Israel and Vietnam sign cooperation agreements
Within the framework of Israeli President Rivlin’s State Visit to Vietnam this week, a number of cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries – in the fields of medicine, electricity, and informal education.
(Communicated by the President’s Spokesperson)
The MOU signed in the field of electricity was between Ormat, and the Vietnamese electric company EEVN. Ormat is an international Israeli company which operates in the field of energy and electricity and deals with establishment and operation of energy stations run by alternative energy. The MOU was aimed at the establishment of a power station at the BIMSOM factory, one of eight cement factories run by Vietnamese company VICEM. Israeli know-how in the field of renewable energy, and the need in Vietnam for development in this field against a background of strong economic growth in the country were key to formulation of the MOU, and represented a good example of cooperation between the two countries.

Similarly, an agreement was signed between the Israel Association of Community Centers (IACC) and between Talent Pool, the largest informal education, and training organization in Vietnam. The aim of the agreement was to share best practices and knowledge and models with Vietnamese companies to enable them to establish the first community management in Hanoi as a pilot for others in the country. Aviad Freedman, Chairman of the IACC said, “We are proud to be a power of strength in exporting Israel’s social innovation to countries in Asia. The ability of the community centers to act in every place according to the spirit, and the needs of the different communities is a model which should be understood around the world, to maximize social capital and promote projects for the benefit of all (Tikun Olam).”
In addition, two MOUs were signed with the participation of Vietnam’s Minister of Health, Nguyễn Thị Kim Tiến. The agreements dealt with the building a private hospital, between the Vietnamese TH Group, and Israeli companies Staromedic and Medicdan.
